An initiative group of Youth Club Active members was inspired by the amount of positive feedback from previous events and decided to make something bigger and even more breath-taking. In addition, our organisation has won the Häkaton support of 2500 € grant and sponsoring from Telliskivi Loomelinnak providing our event with a place and catering. That’s how the idea was born and hard work began.

The event was organised on the 2nd of September 2018 in capital city of Estonia, Tallinn. There is a beautiful modern district that corresponded the concept the best and it is called Telliskivi district. There is a space offering alternative experiences hand in hand with elementary commodities and professional technical solutions and it is called Club of Different Rooms. This is the spot where the action took place.

This time was decided to invite to tell their story as many people with different backgrounds, as we will be able to find, and also make it possible for the ‘Living Books’ and their Readers to meet professionals – people, who know much more about the history and concept of the Human Library.

Similarly to the previous event, we ended up having 25 Books. However, this time the working language of the event was Russian, English and Estonian and all of the quest were able to select the appropriate language.

Three 30-minute conversation sessions – we took into account the feedback from both Books and Readers after the previous event. We have also made the Book catalogue available online prior to the event, so people could have a look and possibly get curious about the concept, as well as have an idea which Books they might want to read.

At the end of the Human Library event was organized conference with experts who are dealing with this method and for quests and books
was opportunity to listen about their experience. We had experts from 3 different countries: Russia, Lithuania and Spain/Estonia.

All in all, the power and amazing influence of this concept was confirmed yet once again, and we are happy to keep working on next events.

We also had a Facebook event here, so mark yourself, if you are planning to come! Also there you can find a schedule for you to plan your day!
